The Town of Windsor Fife & Drum Corps (they performed at the Spring Conference) will be hosting their annual muster on the Windsor Town Green on Saturday, September 11, beginning at 11 AM. There will be a number of groups performing. This is usually a 2 to 3 hour event. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket - there is plenty of parking behind town hall. The coffee shop is around the corner at the train station and an ice cream shop in Windsor Center. Kathy Quin

It has become to difficult for me and our supplier to take on-going clothing orders. We have decided to take orders before the conferences and before the schools. We can also take bulk orders for county meetings. Everything will be either picked up together for delivery or delivered to one place. This will save on shipping costs.
So------
If you would like to order for delivery at the Fall Conference, please submit your order to me at lfrancis@townofdurhamct.org by September 3. The catalog can be viewed at http://www.ctclerks.com/content/1230/1232.aspx.
Thank you for your cooperation. Laura Francis

Help Wanted
I need someone (or a committee) who will take charge of the vendor advertising on the website. We already have a program that is part of our website that is set-up for this. Training is available from QScend. Anyone with some computer knowldege can do it.
This service would not only generate some income for CTCA but the vendors are all looking forward to the opportunity. The vendor directory will also serve as an easy resource for all of us.
Please contact me at lfrancis@townofdurhamct.orgif you are interested. Thank You Laura

During the last presidential election, how long did it take your town or city to process all the presidential ballot applicants that were in line at 8:00 P.M.? In other words, at what time did you issue and receive the last presidential ballot on election night four years ago? Therese Pac THERESEPAC@ci.bristol.ct.us

Good News from Hartford Town Clerk Dan Carey... Hartford is one of two finalists (the other is Chicago) for the 2009 IIMC Conference. This is quite an accomplishment because 13 cities such as Honolulu, Omaha, Nashville also applied. A representative from the IIMC conference committee will be in Hartford at the end of August to conduct a site visit. Kudos to Dan Carey and the Hartford Visitor Center for their hard work on the RFP.
Thank you, town clerks! Once again, the Associated Press-Hartford Courant Election Center was able to deliver fast and accurate results to the state's media on primary night, thanks to prompt reporting by those of you who had contests on Tuesday. We appreciate your help, and your association will be rewarded accordingly. See you at the CTCA fall conference, and on to Nov.2!

Twenty Clerks have indicated an interest in taking the bus. Based on that number the trip is a go. The bus holds 48 so there is plenty of room for others to join the fun.
We will be using Post Road Stages Bus Company. The tentative schedule right now is to make three pick-ups.
Wednesday, November 17th
1. Southington Commuter parking lot Exit 29 - 7:00am
2. Windsor Route 219 Mt St. Benedict Commuter Lot - 7:30am
3. Manchester Spencer St. Commuter Lot - 8:00am
Arrival in Boston by 10:30am.
Friday - Departure from the Park Plaza will be @ Noon. Drop offs will be made at the same three commuter lots.
Cost of the trip is $50 round trip. It includes a FUN, hassle free trip to Boston, drop-off and pick-up at the door of the hotel and a complimentary continental breakfast on the bus Wednesday morning complete with Mimosa's.
Procedure: Anyone on the "interest list" will be sent an invoice in
September - which should help with reimbursement. Payment for the trip
will be made to the CTCA. Checks will be sent to Leslie.
** NOTE: Based on the above information please re-confirm your interest
in taking the bus with Leslie. The $50 charge is based on 20 passengers. If the number should increase to 30 the cost will drop to $35. If the number drops below 20 the trip may not be possible.
If anyone has any questions or would like to be added to the bus list
please contact Leslie - cotton@southington. org or 860 276-6215
Thanks, Leslie
State primary alert! The Associated Press-Hartford Courant Election Center is gearing up to collect vote totals the night of August 10 for all contested primary races for U.S. House, state Senate or state General Assembly seats. The state's news media will be relying on the AP to tell them who won, and the AP is relying on you!
Please keep in mind that when you help the AP, you help the Connecticut Town Clerks Association, because it receives a payment from the AP for every call or fax requested and received on primary night.
If you have a contested primary race for U.S. House, state Senate or state General Assembly, please check your snail-mail for an envelope from the AP-Hartford Courant Election Center manager, Tammy Mitman. It should arrive by Wednesday, Aug. 4. When you receive it, please take a moment to look at the enclosed reporting form and instructions. If you see any errors on the form or have questions about the procedures, or if you don't receive the mailing at all, please give Tammy a call right away at 860-485-1076, or send an e-mail to her now at: tmitman@ap.org. AFRICAN-AMERICAN AFFAIRS COMMISSIONSTATE CAPITOLHARTFORD, CONNECTICUT 06106-1591(860) 240-8555FAX (860) 240-8444
Dear Town Clerk,
The African-American Affairs Commission (AAAC) is in the process of updating its records to identify the number of African-American elected officials serving at the municipal and local level. This information is vital for AAAC's mission in maintaining partnerships with its constituent groups at the local level. However such information is difficult to gather without your assistance and co-operation.
The excel file attached reflects results of a survey the Commission conducted in 2002. This is a follow-up to determine whether there have been any newly appointed or elected African-American officials in your town. In addition the Commission is interested in determining whether the individuals we have on file are still serving at the municipal level or have vacated the position.
To the best of your knowledge please provide the necessary changes in the space below or in any format of your choice. The following is the information needed: Name of African-American elected official, Position in Local Government, and Term they are serving. The Commission is aware that it is virtually impossible to identify all those serving in the capacity of Justice of Peace, let alone their ethnicity, but such information will be equally useful for the Commission's agenda if available.
As you scroll down the list you will notice that there are no names in some of the towns, meaning that there were no African-American officials identified in these towns from the previous study. If things have remained the same please indicate so. Thank you for your attention and co-operation in this matter.
